Epic Road Trip (Episode 2) - An Omani at a Malaysian wedding

Time for another FLASHBACK!!!!

This is another ride worthy of the 'epic road trip episodes'. It happened somewhere in 2009. I have become more familiar with my leg and therefore and I have learned how to managed the cramping better now. In addition, I have switched from a sportsbike to a naked bike which have a more relaxed riding position. All of these adds up to the confidence of riding longer distances.

OK back to the ride, as I mentioned, this ride happened somewhere in 2009. It all started when one of my officemate is getting married and another officemate pointed out the idea of riding there. The wedding was held in Mersing, Johor which was about 350km away from KL.

So I gathered up a few of my friends to join us. Abdullah (who was in the Epic Road Trip Episode 1 with his two-stroke kawasaki) had upgraded to a bigger bike with a bigger tank capacity. We therefore did not worry about frequent stops for fuel.

We started off at 8 in the morning and had breakfast somewhere near my house.

He was happy with his breakfast that morning :)

Breakfast of champions!

Our first destination was Senawang, where we met up with my officemate, Khalid on his ER6N there.

Khalid was ready to ride

We refuelled our bike at Serting and then rode on. Our next stop was Bandar Baru Serting for refuelling. Eventhough this was a journey of about 70km, we could not go fast as this was a rural road with two way traffic. In addition, I needed the stop to rest my leg.

Bikes and riders had a little rest....especially the one legged rider :P

We then continued with our journey to Muadzam Shah which was another 100km from Bandar Baru Serting. Again it was a small rural road with two way traffic and YES, I needed the rest :P

Bikes, riders and helmets were resting

The next stop was not our regular fuel stop. The next stop was where we planned to have lunch. It was about 80km away from Muadzam Shah and there were some twisty roads along the way and we passed some villages. After riding for about an hour or so, we finally arrived....feeling hungry! :D

This was the reason we came here

Such a cute smile

All gone!!!!

My new lid again :P

This was what a good lunch did to Abdullah!

With such a nice lunch, I also didn't want to continue and wanted to sleep like Abdullah....however, we still have another 70km or so till we reach our destination. So, after everyone was wide awake, we continued our journey to Mersing.

When we reached Mersing, it was about 5pm and we stopped by at the groom's house. The family greeted us, we had a little snack and they took us to where we will be staying for the night.

They offered us a nice place by the beach.....and let me tell you, nothing beats sleeping with the sound of the ocean and the cool breeze blowing to your face. NICEEE!!! :)

Happy faces. Tired, but happy :)

Check out the sceneries! :)

Later that night, we attended the wedding rehearsal and guess what? Abdullah was chosen to be the Best Man!!! Hence the title "An Omani at a Malaysian wedding". He instantly became a superstar with the locals. Good for you man! :)

That morning we had breakfast in the small town of Mersing and after that, went to take some pictures by the beach.

In the afternoon, we attended the wedding ceremony where Abdullah was all stunting as the Best Man. We then head home feeling happy as we have completed another Epic Road Trip!

Stay tune for the next one.... :)
