Epic Road Trip (Episode 3) - PUCHONG BIKERS' trip to Hat Yai

Another FLASHBACK!!!!! :D

OK, so here we are, at another flashback in Epic Road Trip Episodes. As you all have read in the previous postings, I have started to learn to ride further and longer after I got my ER6N, therefore, it is befitting that we do a ride to Thailand. This road trip was epic because it was my first ever border crossing.

It all started some time in early 2010 during our weekly gathering for Puchong Bikers. The idea was to do a simple ride to Hat Yai.

A few days before the ride, I was in Indonesia (working) and when I got back, I realized that my passport had less than 6 months till expiry. So after landing in Subang Airport, I quickly made my way to the next terminal to renew my passport. It was quite tedious but in the end I got my passport!

We started our journey in Puchong at 1:30am..... and I haven't slept since I landed from Indonesia.

*** ONE VERY SPECIAL FACT about this ride was we had around 10-11 bikes, the biggest cc was a Kawasaki GTR1400 but the smallest is a Naza Blade 250!!! We started together and came home together. We all the way TOGETHER! ***

Our first fuel stop was in R&R Damansara, NKVE Highway.

We then rode through the darkness of the night until R&R Tapah where we had a light snack and refueled

Me and my tired face. Indonesia in the day, Malaysia at night and Thailand in the morning

Our next stop is R&R Gunung Semanggol. On our way there, I was following the lead bike, then suddenly I couldn't see where I was going. It turned out that I had a HEADLIGHT MALFUNCTION! Lucky for me, the Kawasaki GTR1400 had good lighting and escorted me all the way.

After a short rest and Subuh prayer at R&R Gunung Semanggol, we continued our journey, passing Penang before the rush hour traffic and stopping at Changlun for white card and insurance. This was a first for me so I just followed the crowd :)

After completing everything that we need, we proceed to the border and since this was my first time, I was quite nervous because I didn't know what to expect thus forgetting to snap some photos. :P

We then rode all the way to Hat Yai where we stayed at the GRAND PLAZA HOTEL. This hotel is good if you are riding because you can park your bike at the basement.

Very nice and comfortable room :)

After everyone had checked in, showered and change, we decided to find lunch. So a bunch of us grab a tuk tuk and went to town to find some nice lunch. We were really hungry from the riding and I haven't had a proper sleep for over 24 hours now!

Waiting for everyone at the lobby

Abdullah loves the tuk tuk

Lunch!  Lets eat!

Seafood Tom Yam for lunch. Yaaay!

Later that evening, we decided to hang out in front of the hotel. One good thing about this hotel is that there are a lot of stalls selling halal food in front of the hotel.

The next day, it was free and easy but in the evening, we went to the floating market. I was told it was one of the biggest floating market. Since there were 14 of us all together, we hired a very big van to take us there from the hotel.

We rode in this very big van

We finally arrived at the floating market

An Omani at the floating market

We spent about an hour or so there and then we all went to have our dinner.

Dinner time!

Yummmmmyyy!!!

The next day, we all packed and ready to go home. We crossed the border in the morning and stopped by at Juru for lunch. We met some biker friends from Penang

Our last stop was R&R Tapah for the final fuel stop before everyone heads home

Abdullah looking happy after yet another Epic Road Trip!

Everybody got home safe and sound. One of the best rides at that time..... and yes, the Naza Blade 250 followed our convoy from day 1 until we get home. NOBODY WAS LEFT BEHIND :)
